Bill Taylor & The Appalachian Heatherns are an Americana roots band based in Middlesboro, Kentucky, known for blending heartfelt songwriting with a raw, Appalachian sound. Frontman Bill Taylor, a preacher’s son raised in the Pentecostal and Holiness church traditions of southeastern Kentucky, brings a powerful presence and deep musical roots to every performance.
Joined by his father on lead guitar and harmonica, and Joe Cox on drums and cajón, the band crafts songs that speak to life in the hills—faith, struggle, redemption, and resilience. With influences like Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, and Chris Stapleton, their sound is both familiar and fresh, steeped in tradition but charged with energy. Whether playing regional venues like Duke’s Indy or sharing their music online through their “Appalachian Heatherns” series, Bill Taylor & The Appalachian Heatherns deliver a show full of soul, grit, and authenticity that leaves a lasting impression.
